Who Is amanda ybanez?

Amanda grew up in public housing in Kalihi, and was born to a Filipino immigrant household. She is only the second in her family to be educated in America, and has always made sure to give back to her community because she knows what it feels like to have nothing. She makes sure she meets and speaks to everyone in the room. She puts the community first by being involved in the neighborhood board for over a decade. She gathers community leaders speak on her Olelo podcast about serving our community together. Amanda has always supported the labor movements with Local 5 and the hotel workers by going on strikes and supporting hard-working people in Hawaii.

What Amanda does is not just because of her position, or what her extensive training has taught her to do. It is a lifestyle. It is who she is. Amanda believes in the voice of the people and we matter. She decided it was time to help her community through the Hawaii State Legislature by running for State House of Representatives -District 28: Iwilei, Sand Island, Chinatown/Downtown.

“We can have discussions, knowing you can’t please everyone.”

”This is an imperfect world. How can we work together to make it better?”

“We all make mistakes. Nobody’s perfect. How can we find solutions as a community?”
